Mathematics for Education
Faculty of Science
In the Mathematics for Education program, you will combine mathematics and education to develop a wide perspective on the teaching and learning of mathematics. You will become well prepared for a rewarding career in mathematics education and find yourself in demand in a market with an ongoing shortage of qualified mathematics teachers.
You will receive a BA or a BSc Honours degree, and you can complete your teacher qualification with a second degree of BEd (Bachelor of Education) either concurrently or consecutively.
- In the BEd concurrent program https://edu.yorku.ca/academic-programs/bachelor-of-education/concurrent-bed/, you work towards the BA/BSc and BEd degrees at the same time to become a qualified teacher in Ontario. Admission to the concurrent program is directly from high school.
- In the BEd consecutive program https://edu.yorku.ca/academic-programs/bachelor-of-education/full-time-consecutive-bed/, you first complete your BA/BSc degree and then apply to the BEd program.
